Ning Feng performs Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra
Ning Feng returns to the London Philharmonic Orchestra this Sunday to perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major under the baton of Tom Fetherstonhaugh at Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre. The programme also features works by Glinka and Rimsky-Korsakov.
The appearance marks Feng’s latest collaboration with the Orchestra and comes amid a busy international schedule. Following an impressive run of concerts across China and Asia with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, he makes a brief stop in the UK before embarking on a tour of Australia and New Zealand this November.
Widely recognised as one of the leading violinists of his generation, this latest concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra offers audiences in Eastbourne the opportunity to hear a full programme of Russian Classics.

Ning Feng in Boston with solo recital of Bach, Ysaÿe and Paganini
Violinist Ning Feng performed a breathtaking solo recital programme in Boston this week, drawing enthusiastic praise for his performances of Bach Partita No.2 in D minor, Ysaÿe Sonatas No.2 and No. 6, and a set of Paganini Caprices. The performance, held at Jordan Hall (New England Conservatory), showcased Ning’s dazzling virtuosity and musical insight, and was highly acclaimed in the press:
"His program, The Ultimate Solo Violin, awed and mesmerized. Alone on stage, he evoked rapt audience concentration… Feng dove into the Allemanda with singing intent, demonstrating pleasure, concentration and joy, despite the minor key... though he avoided vibrato, his approach felt romantic through the power of his tone and his flexibility of tempo … These short works granted Feng the presence to wow the audience with his expression and masterful technique, which indeed he did. Over-the-top audience reception encouraged two splendid encores. First, the adagio from Bach’s violin Sonata No.1 in G Minor, which Feng explained has special meaning for him, and then, Francisco Tárrega’s “Recuerdos de la Alhambra” as arranged by Ruggiero Ricci, which placed us in the warmest of climes." ~ Boston Musical Intelligencer

Ning Feng releases new Brahms & Goldmark album with Antony Hermus
This month, Ning Feng releases his latest album showcasing the violin concerti of Brahms and Goldmark, recorded with the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchester and conducted by Antony Hermus.
The Brahms-Goldmark pairing is particularly apt as both works were written in 1877, and the composers were dear friends. In Goldmark’s lyrical Violin Concerto, Ning Feng plays the original 5-minute cadenza which is seldom heard in its entirety. Written only a few months after the Goldmark, Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D, Op.77 needs little introduction. Ning Feng has long been associated with this concerto, having played it when he won First Prize in the International Paganini Competition 2006 as well as First Prize in the 2005 Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
Ning Feng Releases new recording of Shostakovich and Prokofiev Concertos

Performing on the historic 1710 "Vieuxtemps Hauser" Stradivarius, Ning Feng delivers his usual masterful performances of these major works of the violin repertoire, showcasing his exceptional artistry and radiant tone.
Ning Feng tours Asia with the Asian Youth Orchestra
This August, violinist Ning Feng joins the Asian Youth Orchestra for a multi-city, international tour throughout Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taiwan and Japan, culminating in a performance at Tokyo’s Opera City on 31 August.
Performing Brahms Violin Concerto, Ning also leads various masterclasses throughout the tour for both AYO musicians and local students. The AYO is Asia’s premier pre-professional orchestra, offering opportunities for young musicians to tour internationally with world-leading conductors and artists.
A firm favourite in concert halls across China, Ning returns to Asia in September as he commences his tenure as artist-in-residence at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing. Ning will perform both the Brahms and Goldmark Violin Concertos back-to-back with the NCPA Orchestra under Xian Zhang, and will perform the complete solo Sonatas and Partitas of Bach across China, in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi’an and Jiangsu.
Ning Feng receives critical acclaim for recording of Brahms Violin Sonatas
In April 2023, Channel Classics released Ning Feng’s recording of the 3 Brahms Sonatas with Zee Zee, marking his 11th recording for the label, and attracting critical acclaim from across the classical music industry. 'Technically, Feng’s playing is beyond reproach. His tone is simply ravishing, even when it soars into the stratosphere…'
Gramophone
'From the beginning there's a superb rapport between them; they create rapt, almost candlelit atmospheres that can pull you in and hold you through to the end.'
BBC Music Magazine
'Ning Feng presents the violin sonatas in an amiable, intimate and lived through way in flawless (perfectly in tune), lively and lilting dialogues with the talented pianist Zee Zee. His Brahms album is a true ode to the composer and to the noble art of the violin playing.'
